Justin Shiver went the distance for the Tribe, scattering 13
hits. Shiver walked one and struck out one while allowing only
two earned runs.
Shiver defeated his brother A.J., who started for the 'Neers and
permitted seven earned runs on four hits in three and a
third innings. The younger Shiver walked three and fanned three.
Justin Rariden collected three hits for the Tribe and drove in
six runs. Jeff Mathis hit a three run homer in the first.
Leadoff batter Roy Moncada went four for four and scored four
runs.
Eric Bigham and Anthony Tomasi had three hits each for the
Bocaneers.
The Southern Yankees also claimed a share of the division lead
after they pounded the Hallandale Twins, 12-6.
Joe Feller pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on
eight hits to improve his record to 2-1. Feller, who walked one
and struck out five, got stellar relief help from Jeff Eidleberg,
who earned a save.
Luis Soto, Miguel Franquiz, Todd Collura, Ed Wierda, and Bob
Guise paced the Yanks' offense with two hits each.
Adam Hamby went the distance for the pitching strapped Twins and
suffered the loss after allowing eight earned runs on 14 hits.
Hamby walked eight, hit two, and struck out four.
Jose Medina and Mike Connell had two hits each for the cellar
dwelling Twins. Medina had a two run homer in the fifth.
Saturday's Recap-Royals Rip Tribe:
The Palm Beach Royals ended their two game losing streak with a
decisive 16-9 thrashing of the Coconut Creek Indians, Saturday
afternoon at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.
Brandon Zeeb had four hits and drove in 6 runs to lead the
Royals. Zeeb had two doubles, a triple, and a single. Danny Zeeb
added three hits and Brad Monaco poled a two run home run for
the Royals.
Brett Lancaster went the distance, despite allowing five earned
runs on seven hits, to earn the win. Lancaster struck out eight
and walked one. Lancaster hit a league record six batters as
well.
Casey McCarthy started for the Indians and took the loss.
Justin Rariden paced the Tribe with two hits and three RBI.
The loss drops the Indians back to the break even mark.
