Fall/Winter Season Award Winners And All Star Teams Announced

The
Federal League office has announced the winners of the
individual awards for the 2008-2009 Fall/Winter season just
concluded as well as the 2008-2009 Fall/Winter season all star teams.
Both the awards and all star teams were selected by a vote of
league managers.
Alan
Clark Named
Original Division MVP: Alan
Clark, of the Original Division champion Parkland Mets won the Original Division's Most Valuable Player award
for the first time in his career.
Clark,
the Mets' regular center fielder, hit a division leading .449 and also
hit three home runs and drove in 18 runs. Clark also filled in at
shortstop, catcher, and second base when needed
Clark
easily outpointed the runner-up, Jose Zabala of the South
Florida Sun Devils.
Jimmy Efre Wins Expansion Division MVP Award: Jimmy Efre,
the center fielder for the Lighthouse Point Beacons, who led the
Illuminators to the Expansion
Division pennant and Expansion Series crown, was named the
division's Most Valuable Player.
Efre, who led the league in hitting with a remarkable .621
average, the second highest in league history, was among the
league leaders in almost all categories.
Efre won the award in an unanimous vote.
Mets' Ruf Claims Division's Best Pitcher Award: Karl Ruf
of The Mets, who posted a 5-0 record with a startling 1.35 ERA
working both as a starter and as a reliever, was voted the
Senior Circuit's Best Pitcher Award winner.
Spring Of Beacons Win Expansion Division's Best Pitcher Award:
Brant Spring, who went 3-0 with a league leading 1.14 ERA
for the Beacons, won the Junior Circuit's Best Pitcher Award in
a unanimous vote.
The Remaining Awards: Michael Cimilluca who guided the
Parkland Mets to a regular season pennant an the Original
Division championship, won the
Original Division's Best Manager Award. Keith Nicoll, who
piloted the Lighthouse Point Beacons to the regular season flag
and the Expansion Series crown, was named the Expansion
Division's Best Manager Award winner.
Richard Burns, RHP/OF of the runner up Deerfield Tigers was named
the winner of the Original Division's Best Newcomer Award. Michael
Kandersack, who led the league in runs scored as the Davie
Goliaths' center fielder was
recognized with the Expansion Division's version of the award.
Bob Westheimer of the Margate Sentries was voted the
winner of the first Dave Gardner Memorial Trophy, symbolizing
sportsmanship and courage.
