Fall/Winter Season Award Winners And All Star Teams Announced March

Federal League office has announced the winners of the
individual awards for the 2007-2008 Fall/Winter season just
concluded as well as the 2007-2008 Fall/Winter season all star teams.

Both the awards and all star teams were selected by a vote of
league managers.
Jose
Zabala Named
Original Division MVP: Jose
Zabala won the Original Division's Most Valuable Player award
for the second time in his career.
Zabala,
the Sun Devils' shortstop, hit a solid .354 and led the division
in
RBI as the Solar Satans finished second in the division race,
losing the pennant on the season's final day.
Zabala's
teammate Matt Stubbs finished a close second in the voting.
Keith Nicoll Wins Expansion Division MVP Award: Keith
Nicoll, who helped lead the Lighthouse Point Beacons to the Expansion
Division pennant was named the
division's Most Valuable Player.
Nicoll, the Illuminators' player/manager, first in hits, third
in runs scored, and second in batting average.
Nicoll won a close vote over Jamie Siragusa, also of the Lighthouse Point Beacons.
Siragusa, who led the league in on
base percentage for the tenth time, has now finished second in
the MVP voting eight times in his 16 seasons with the Beacons without
winning the award. League batting champion Jose Morales, another
Beacon, finished third in the voting
Cimilluca Claims Division's Best Pitcher Award: Michael
Cimilluca of the division champion KWB Mets won the Original Division's Best
Pitcher Award for the ninth time in his career. Cimilluca, who went
9-3 and led the league with a 0.88 ERA, was a near unanimous choice for the
award.
Schaut Named Expansion Division's Best Pitcher Award Winner:
Rick Schaut, who posted an 8-1 record for the pennant
winning Lighthouse Point Beacons was named the winner of the
division's Best Pitcher Award for the third time. Rich Albanese of the Margate
Sentries finished a distant second in the voting.
The Remaining Awards: Orrie Snitken who guided the
Playball Academy Expos to a strong third place place finish in
an expected rebuilding season, won the
Original Division's Best Manager Award. Phil Laufman, who
piloted the Margate Sentries to a second place finish despite a
spate of injuries, won the Expansion Division's Best
Manager Award. Carlos Rodriguez of the improving Sunrise Sunsets
finished second in the voting.
Travis Wilson, centerfielder of the Oakland Park A's was named
the winner of the Original Division's Best Newcomer Award. Jorge
Correa, slugging first baseman of the Sunrise Sunsets was
recognized with the Expansion Division's version of the award.
Jamie Bobrow of the Deerfield Tigers was named the winner of the
Original Division's Sportsmanship Award. Aaron Spring of the
Hollywood Stars won the Expansion Division's version of the
award.
